Katy and John's 'baby plans'

Katy Perry is reportedly taking "extra precautions" to have a baby.

The American singer has been dating musician John Mayer on and off for around 16 months.
Amid rumours they are engaged, Katy is said to be keen to settle down and start a family with the heartthrob songwriter.

"Katy brought up the idea of having a baby a few weeks ago. He was really supportive and said he'd love her to be the mother of his child," a source told British magazine Closer. "Their inner circle say it won't be long until there's good news. She's already been taking precautions during performances. Extra safety measures were taken during her [MTV] EMA act, where she was suspended in the air. She didn't want to put her body under any strain."

Katy was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand, who she divorced from last year. John's former flames include Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson.
While the couple appear to be happy together, close friends of the 29-year-old beauty are said to be worried about her being hurt by the 36-year-old star after his string of failed romances.
"Katy's pals are concerned she's too headstrong and won't factor in John's relationship history. But Katy says he'll make a great dad and believes a baby would only strengthen their bond," the source added.
