The
exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement encompasses all of his
catalogue as well as his latest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which
debuted at No.1 on the Official UK Album Chart, making him the only
American artist ever to achieve seven consecutive No.1 albums in the UK.
The album also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it
Eminem’s seventh consecutive No. 1 album in the territory. With 792,000
copies sold in the US during its first week, The Marshall Mathers LP 2
notched the second-biggest sales week of 2013 and the sixth-biggest
sales week of the past five years.
Eminem released four songs
ahead of the debut of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, including The Monster
feat. Rihanna, Rap God, Berserk, and Survival.
He co-wrote Survival with the group The New Royales, which is
comprised of UMPG songwriters DJ Khalil, Chin Injeti, Erik Alcock and
Liz Rodrigues. Rodrigues is also featured as a guest vocalist on the
track. The single appeared as part of a promotion for the upcoming video
game Call of Duty: Ghosts was the first publicly released music from
The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
The Monster feat. Rihanna, debuted inside the Top 5 of the Billboard
Hot 100 and became the No.1 most downloaded song on iTunes shortly after
 its October 29 release.
Evan Lamberg, president, North America,
UMPG said: “It’s an honour for Universal Music Publishing Group to
continue representing one of the greatest rock stars of our generation.
Eminem continues to break all genre boundaries and has become a voice
for his generation. Also, kudos to manager Paul Rosenberg and attorney
Theo Sedlmayr who continue to guide one of the most special and
successful careers ever.”
After selling more than 100 million
albums worldwide between 2000 and 2009, Eminem was named Best Selling
Artist of the Decade by SoundScan, while Rolling Stone ranked him as one
of the greatest artists of all time, declaring him The King of Hip-Hop.
 He has 13 Grammy Awards.
Eminem’s seventh studio album, Recovery, was the best-selling album
of 2010, making him the first artist in history to have two year-end
best-selling albums (his album The Eminem Show was the best-selling
album of 2002).
The second single release from the Recovery album - Love the Way You
Lie (feat. Rihanna) - produced by Alex Da Kid and co-written by Skylar
Grey, spent seven consecutive weeks at No.1 on Billboard’s Hot 100,
received five Grammy nods, became the UK’s best-selling song of 2010,
